WELSH DRY STEAM COAL
Our Welsh Dry Steam coal is sourced from the Ffos-y-fran open cast coal mine in South Wales.
This superior semi-smokeless coal, is suited for use on most traction engines, steam locomotives, steam powered boats and steam raising boilers.
About Welsh Dry Steam Coal
Our Welsh Dry Steam Cobbles are sourced from the Ffos-y-Fran open cast coal mine near Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales. The mine is part of the East Merthyr Reclamation scheme, a large project created to redevelop the area after it fell into dereliction after the closure of the deep coal mine industry in the 1980’s. The goal of the scheme is to extract coal from the area of East Merthyr by the cheapest means, thus the creation of the open cast coal mine.
The fuel we source is of an excellent quality that will perform exceptionally well on a range of steam generating appliances and vehicles.
Welsh Dry Steam Coal (Cobbles)
Steam coal, a type of thermal coal, is a semi-smokeless fuel which is softer than Anthracite and burns cleaner than House Coal. It’s usually used to raise steam in railway engines, traction engines and steam-powered boats and can be used on Rayburn type cookers.
