CHARCOAL
Charcoal is a fuel commonly used in garden barbecues as it has a very high heat output and gives off few emissions making it suitable for cooking food. It is manufactured by heating wood, preferably hardwood, and burning it in the absence of oxygen. This carbonises the wood, giving it its grey dusty exterior, and makes it very dry and lightweight.
There’s always been an ongoing debate on which barbecuing method is best; charcoal or LPG.
Here at Charlton Whitehouse Fuels Ltd we much prefer the traditional method of barbecuing over charcoal. We find it gives the food an authentic flavour (not the taste of cremation) which cannot be achieved through cooking with propane LPG.
Not convinced? Then don’t take our word for it, buy a bag and give it a go.
Lumpwood and Briquettes
Our Lumpwood Charcoal is made using traditional methods and burns very well.
Our briquette charcoal is manufactured and formed into oval briquettes.
Both products are perfect for garden barbecues.
Restaurant Grade Charcoal
Restaurant grade lumpwood charcoal pieces are larger than our domestic lumpwood product, designed for use on larger barbecues and grills – suitable for those found in restaurant’s and pubs that cook over charcoal grills. The larger lumps burn for longer reducing the number of times the grill needs refueling thus increasing uninterrupted cooking times.
